Leadership Development consultancy Europe United States

There are fundamental skills that every leader needs to be proficient in before they can be effective. The Litehouse Leader Program (LLP) consists of four modules that cover these fundamentals with a mix of instruction and action learning assignments. Self-paced and interactive study options are available, both are supported with optional coaching. Team Offsites and bespoke training are priced individually.

LLP - Self-Paced

The program consists of 12 hours of instruction and action learning exercises. Topics are given helpful context and explained in simple terms so that it's easy to digest and, more importantly, it's easy to apply.

LLP - Interactive

Delivered over 2 full days (in person or virtually) the interactive sessions offer the ability to learn from others and engage more fully when questions arise. I'm can align with your time zone wherever you are.

Team Offsite

This in-person event incorporates group work, team discussion and action learning exercises for a team to emerge clearer and more connected on how to succeed together.

One-to-One Coaching

Is available for all leaders irrespective of experience or whether the LLP has been completed. I'm versatile and can support you wherever you are in your leadership journey.

Litehouse Leader Program

Module 1: The Inner Game

Challenge is abundant for leaders and mastering one's “inner game” is a critical skill for any leader. Without a healthy awareness of ourselves, leaders can become trapped in a reactive cycle of fire-fighting, taking control of tasks that their team should own, upsetting people unconsciously. When the accumulation of challenge exceeds our capacity to handle it then our inner game is compromised and our effectiveness diminishes rapidly.

Focus: Awareness of Self

  • Emotional Regulation: Recognize inner thoughts and feelings, how to respond when triggered, how to make mindful decisions.
  • Leading through VUCA: Most environments carry elements of VUCA and leaders need to know how to adapt themselves.
  • Core Strengths & Blind Spots: Using Enneagram to unlock insights that we then use to craft a personal leadership mission statement.
  • Shifting paradigm: Stop thinking like an IC and start thinking like a leader of ICs, accessing new approaches and retiring old ones.

Outcomes:

  • Enhanced emotional intelligence and vulnerability.
  • Improved decision-making.
  • Positive cultural impact.

Module 2: Effective Interactions "The Outer Game"

Under pressure to perform, but only having their previous IC success formula for reference, new managers may resort to a “do as I did” approach. Teams quickly feel disempowered and interactions within the team become stressed, ultimately this erodes the new leader's confidence and increases the pressure to perform.

Focus: Communication and team dynamics

  • Understanding the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team.
  • Fostering Trust: Using the "Speed of Trust" framework to build and maintain trust.
  • Drama and Empowerment Dynamics: Identify and shift from toxic interactions.

Outcomes:

  • Greater willingness to be vulnerable and authentic.
  • Reduced drama.
  • Enhanced team cohesion and morale through trust, leading to accelerated results.

Module 3: Nurturing Performance

New managers usually have little experience that prepares them for crucial performance conversations. This module aims to provide new managers with the instruction and support they need to nurture capability within their team through effective feedback, coaching, and challenging conversations.

Focus: Leadership styles and performance management

  • Leadership Styles: Understand transactional vs. transformational leadership.
  • Sustainability: Adopt "infinite thinking" approaches for sustainable performance.
  • Performance Conversations: Learn and practice Feedback, Coaching, and Challenging discussion methodologies that are field tested.

Outcomes:

  • Quality performance conversations.
  • Adaptable leadership styles.
  • Faster team ramp-up or exit.

Module 4: Building Rhythm

Building a clear game plan and developing an operating rhythm will help players master their approach. It also ensures that players can step in for each other, which enables a consistent customer experience. Conversely, when teams have lost their rhythm, the “doom loop” can set in, where inputs feel disjointed and even desperate.

Focus: Operational efficiency and team alignment

  • Ingredients of Excellence: Resourcefulness, expertise, transparency, responsiveness, and ownership and how these apply tactically.
  • Meaningful Goals: "Deconstruct" high level organizational goals and align them with the front line activities that drive the desired outcomes.
  • Team Support: Effective 1:1s and team meetings.
  • Creative Thinking: Foster original thinking for progress and problem solving.

Outcomes:

  • High-value meetings.
  • Effective game plans.
  • Improved problem-solving and customer experience.

Team Offsite

If your team is newly formed, facing unprecedented challenges, not cohesive or collaborating effectively, or experiencing interpersonal friction, then this will help. The objective of this offsite is to address whatever blockers restrict trust, collaboration and healthy conflict within the team and build a bridge to a new way of working together.

Key Topics:

The discussions and group work within this offsite are drawn from some world-renowned authors on the topic of leadership:

  • "The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team" (Patrick Lencioni)
  • "Good to Great" (Jim Collins)
  • "The Infinite Game" (Simon Sinek)
  • "Daring Greatly" (Brene Brown)
  • "Immunity to Change" (Lisa Lahey & Brian Keegan)

Outcomes:

  • Enhanced emotional intelligence and vulnerability.
  • Greater candor, feedback and trust.
  • Inspiring mission and game plan for moving forward.
